When do lessons take place?
Both current courses run on Saturdays.

  • Financial Literacy: 11am UK time
  • Yoruba: 12.30pm UK time

Each lesson lasts 60 minutes. UK clocks change in late October and late March, so if you are outside the UK your local start time will shift twice during the year. The UK time stays the same.
How many lessons are there in a year?
36 teaching Saturdays, split across three terms.

What is included in a course?
Each week your child receives:
  • a 60-minute live lesson with the tutor
  • the lesson recording, to watch again
  • a workbook for that week's topic
  • homework
  • a short quiz to check understanding
Everything is available in your child's account on our learning platform.
What if my child misses a lesson?
All classes are recorded. If your child cannot attend, the recording appears in their account and they can watch it at a time that suits you. The workbook, homework and quiz for that week stay available too.
Can my child join partway through the year?
Yes. Earlier lessons are already recorded, so your child can catch up before joining the live sessions. Email us and we will tell you what your child has missed and how best to start.
Ages and one-to-one

Is my child the right age?

The age for each course is set by the material we teach and by how the lesson is run, not by ability alone.
How old does my child need to be?
  • Financial Literacy: recommended from age 11
  • Yoruba: from age 10
  • Coding, Foundational Core: from age 10
  • Coding, Advanced: from age 14
My child is 10. Can they join Financial Literacy?
Financial Literacy is written for children from age 11. If your child is 10 and you would like them to take part, email us and we will talk it through with you before you enrol.
My child is under 10. What are the options?
Children under 10 can take Yoruba, Coding or 11+ Preparation as one-to-one lessons.

Email info@witfindacademy.com and we will arrange it.
Do you offer one-to-one lessons?
Yes, for every subject we teach. That includes Financial Literacy, Yoruba, Coding, 11+ Preparation and GCSE Support, whether or not the group course has opened yet.

GCSE one-to-one covers Maths and the Sciences at Foundation level. Prices depend on the subject and the number of lessons, so email info@witfindacademy.com and we will send you the details.
Inside a lesson

How a Witfind Academy lesson actually works

Every lesson runs the same way, on every course, so you know what to expect before you enrol.
Will my child be on camera?
No. Student cameras are switched off for every lesson, on every course, without exception. No child appears on screen to the tutor or to anyone else in the class.

We do this to protect children's privacy. Children join using a username or first name, so nobody in the lesson sees a child's face or full name.
Will my child speak during the lesson?
Sometimes, but not in every lesson. Here is exactly how it works.

Microphones are muted by default. During a lesson the tutor may unmute one child at a time for a short spoken contribution, then mute them again. Only one microphone is ever open. We cannot promise your child will be given a speaking turn in any particular lesson.

Chat is open throughout and is the main way children take part. Your child can ask questions and answer the tutor there at any point.
If speaking practice is a priority for your child, particularly in Yoruba, a one-to-one lesson gives them far more of it. Email us and we will explain the options.
Why are cameras off and microphones muted?
It is a safeguarding decision. Keeping cameras off means no child's image is captured or shared. Keeping microphones muted by default, and opening only one at a time, means the tutor knows who is speaking and the lesson cannot be disrupted by another child.

Voice recording is covered in our terms and conditions, which you agree to when you enrol.
How does my child ask a question?
Through the chat, at any point in the lesson. The tutor answers questions as the lesson goes on. Your child does not need to switch on a microphone to ask something.
Are lessons recorded, and how long are recordings kept?
Yes, all live lessons are recorded. Recordings are for revision, and for children who missed the live session.

Recordings for the 2026 to 2027 year are deleted on 31 August 2027. If you cancel before then, access ends when your subscription ends.
Does a parent need to be present?
For children under 10 in one-to-one lessons, yes. A parent or guardian must be present for the whole lesson.

For children aged 10 and over, it is not required. We do suggest being nearby for the first few lessons so you can help with anything technical.
Is there homework?
Yes, each week, along with a short quiz. Homework is designed to take a manageable amount of time alongside school work. Your child can see what they have completed in their account.
Safeguarding

Keeping your child safe

You should be able to ask us anything about this and get a direct answer.
Who is responsible for safeguarding at Witfind Academy?
Juliana Osobu is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. Ezekiel Osobu is Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Any safeguarding concern goes to them directly on safeguarding@witfindacademy.com.
What checks do you carry out on tutors?
Before a tutor teaches for us, we require:
  • proof of identity and the right to work
  • verification of their qualifications
  • references
  • a criminal records check covering the countries they have lived in
  • a signed contract and safeguarding agreement
Will the tutor know my child's real name?
Children join lessons using a username or a first name. We hold your enrolment details as the account holder, but a child's full name is not displayed in the lesson.
Why do you not show photographs of your tutors?
Tutor pages show subject, credentials and years of experience rather than photographs. This is a deliberate choice while our vetting programme completes. We would rather publish less and be accurate.
What results have your tutors achieved?
Our qualified tutors have supported more than 200 children through 11+ preparation and GCSE programmes, with a commitment to strong outcomes. 11+ Preparation: more than 85% of children prepared across Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning achieved the grammar school standardised score of 111 and above. GCSE Support: more than 80% of the 120 students supported across Maths, English and Sciences improved by at least one grade, many securing grades between 6 (B) and 9 (A*) in core subjects.

These results were achieved by our tutors in their previous teaching. We do not guarantee any particular result for any child.

GCSE bundles: two-subjects and three-subjects options will be made available. 11+ Preparation and GCSE Support run twice a week, 72 lessons a year.
Do you offer discounts?
Discounts are available if you, at the same time, enrol more than one child, or if one child takes more than one course. Email info@witfindacademy.com for details. Please only one discount option is available.
How do I pay?
By card, through Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. Monthly payments are taken on the same date each month.
Can I cancel, and will I get a refund?
You have 14 days from enrolling to change your mind and cancel for a refund. This is your right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If lessons have already started at your request during those 14 days, we may keep a proportionate amount for the lessons delivered.

After the first 14 days, cancellation terms depend on the package you chose. Full details are in our terms and conditions, which you agree to at enrolment. If you are unsure, email us before you enrol and we will explain how it applies to you.

When your enrolment ends, access to lessons and recordings ends with it.
Is there a joining fee or any other cost?
No. The price covers the live lessons, recordings, workbooks, homework and quizzes for the full year. There is nothing further to buy.
Getting started

Enrolling your child

Everything your child needs to take part, and how to sign up.
What equipment does my child need?
A laptop, desktop, tablet or phone with a reliable internet connection, and headphones or speakers. A larger screen makes the workbook easier to follow.

A microphone is useful but not essential, since chat is the main way children take part. No camera is needed, as cameras stay off.
How do I enrol?
Choose your course on our website, complete the enrolment form and pay. You will receive an email with your child's login and the joining details for their first lesson.

If you would prefer to talk it through first, email info@witfindacademy.com or call +44 7343 086860.
Can my child change course after enrolling?
Email us and we will look at it with you. Whether a change is possible depends on how far into the year you are and on the age range of the course you want to move to.
My child has additional needs. Can you help?
Tell us before you enrol. Email info@witfindacademy.com with what would help your child and we will be honest about what we can and cannot offer in a group lesson. For some children, one-to-one is the better fit.
Who is Witfind Academy?
Witfind Academy is part of Witfind, a UK learning provider listed on the UK Register of Learning Providers, reference 10100014.

Lessons are taught live by experienced tutors on Saturdays, with recordings and materials available in your child's account throughout the year.

Still have a question? Email info@witfindacademy.com or call +44 7343 086860. We would rather answer a question before you enrol than after.
